Mary Louise Steinmeyer

Mary Louise Steinmeyer, 72, Green Bay , was called home to join God’s Choir in Heaven on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. Mary was born on February 17, 1951 in Ladysmith Wisconsin, the daughter of the now late Walter and Nell (Friedrich) Radka. On October 2, 1970 she married John T. Steinmeyer at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Murry, Wisconsin and together they had a daughter Michelle “Shelly”. She and John owned and operated a dairy farm in Hayward, WI for over 22 years and always valued a hard days work but loved every minute of it. They moved to Green Bay in 1993 where they flourished and lived life to the fullest. Mary worked for Humana for over 12 years holding many key positions but enjoyed her secretarial work the most. She had an angelic voice and belonged to the Humana Choir, St. Agnes Choir and the St. Norbert Abbey Gregorian Chant Choir. Mary loved to dance, sew, was a wonderful cook and enjoyed spending time gardening. She loved being on the water and always had fun fishing with her Dad when she was younger and carried this passion forward with her daughter and close friends. Mary was a huge Packer fan and tried to never miss a game at Lambeau with Shelly. She had a heart of gold and always gave when and where she could, but her biggest joy was rocking babies at the CP Center. Mary was an honorary “Mommy” and “Grandma” to many of Shelly’s friends taking them under her wing and showing them a trick or two but more importantly the value of life. She loved to travel and take cruises with her family and friends and some of the more memorable places she enjoyed were Alaska, Mexico, Hawaii, the Smokey Mountains and Las Vegas. Mary loved riding her “hog” aka her Harley and liked the open road and even attended Sturgis one year with John and good friend Jack- she was a true motorcycle Momma. She loved animals especially her dachshund’s: Harley, Eli and Classy. Mary was a people person with a personality and demeanor that she could easily make friends and had such a special way about her that she attracted people. She was a loving wife, mom, sister, and friend to many and will always be lovingly remembered and sorrowfully missed. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 52 years: John, one daughter and son-in-law: Shelly and Fred Gilbreath, one sister and brother-in-law: Patricia (Mark) James, two sisters-in-law: Eva Radka and Darelene Radka. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law: Marcella (Eddie) Janssen, four brothers and sister-in-law: Robert (Joyce) Radka, Ralph Radka, Michael Radka and Joseph Radka. Gathering of family and friends will be held from 9:00 A.M, to 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 9th Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. with Father Patrick Beno officiating. The Mass of Christian Burial will also be live streamed at the St. Agnes Green Bay YouTube Channel. Entombment at Fort Howard Chapel Mausoleum. The family would like to offer a warm note of appreciation to the staffs of St. Mary’s Hospital, St. Vincent Hospital and Rennes Rehabilitation Center along with the First Responders for all of the care and support over the past two months, your kindness will never be forgotten. A grateful acknowledgement to the St. Agnes Choir who have been like family to Mary and who will also be singing for her funeral guiding her home along with the Choirs of Angels.
