Mr. Donald "Don" Boldt

Donald “Don” P. Boldt, 88, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 16, 2024. Don was born on December 28, 1935 in Albion, Michigan the son of the now late Darwin and Doris (Streeter) Boldt. After graduating from Albion Senior High School in 1954 he went on to study at Michigan Tech University where he earned degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration. Don was a standout football player at Michigan Tech during his 4 years and after his playing days were over he became a coach for his alma mater. He was inducted into the Michigan Tech Hall of Fame as a player in 2009. On May 15, 1965, he married the former Gayle Vanden Busch at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral and they raised 4 wonderful children. Don was a sports enthusiast following all but especially enjoyed watching the Packers and the Green Bay Phoenix Women’s Basketball. He had a heart of gold and was always giving to others before himself and made many life- long friendships through the years. Don cherished his family and always looked forward to the many get-togethers and having a household full of family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, a friend to many and will always be lovingly remembered and sorrowfully missed. Don is survived by his wife of almost 59 years: Gayle, his four children: Christina Boldt, Kathy (Rich) Boldt, Greg (Kelly) Boldt, Jonathon (Jill) Boldt; ten grandchildren: Jordan, Joshua, Max, Vinny, Quinn, Blair, Theadora, Trevor, Aspyn and Kennedy, one great-daughter: Tatum, one sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law: Mary Jo (Brooks) Austin, John Gille. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Joseph and Gladys Vanden Busch, one sister-in-law: Betty Gille. Gathering of family and friends will be held from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Saint Francis Xavier Cathedral 140 S. Monroe Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Brian Belongia officiating.
