Mrs. Sue Pelzman
December 31, 1917 - January 12, 2016
Our beloved mother, aunt, friend and lover of animals passed from life on January 12, 2016 in the care of her daughter Karen Gordon. We give our thanks first of all for the excellent care of her health and well being to the physicians, physician assistants, nurses and health care professionals of the Aurora and Baycare communities, with special thanks to Dr Jason Nitke, Dr Francis Wolf, and Dr Erik Johnson, all of whom contributed to the quality of her life. Summarizing her 98 years is a task beyond measure. As a young woman she was fortunate to have had an audition with the CBS orchestra in New York City as a singer. Being from Richmond Virginia where she lived most of her life, this event was a remarkable achievement. She loved to sing and altho she had no formal training, her voice brought joy to all who encountered it. When her mother became ill, she returned to her home town to help her older sister Rose and her younger sister Minnie take care of her mother and father. She continued to sing for the troops at dances and USO events, meeting her husband Sidney, a nice Jewish boy from New York. Together they had 4 children who survive her, 3 sons who live in Florida, a niece who was more a daughter, and her daughter and son in law Robert Gordon with whom she lived in Green Bay Wi for the last 7 years of her life and also survived by 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Mom loved being a mom, she was a loving and loyal wife to Sidney for 63 years, she was accomplished in sales of jewelry (a passion of hers) and recognized for her stories of growing up in the only Jewish family in West Point Virginia where she was born. She also loved animals, dogs, cats, birds, horses anything that could be nurtured. Her favorite places in Green Bay were Luigi’s Italian Bistro where she was treated like family by John and Farah, Seroogy’s Candies in Depere and TJMaxx where she was known by her first name. Rummele’s Jewelery was also in the top 5. A member of Cnesses Israel Synagogue, and Jewish Women International, she lived being Jewish on a daily basis. She never stopped being grateful for all the kindness shown to her by dear friends Mary Ellen and Ed Johnson, and their children and grandchildren, Andrea Gilson, Amy Salzbrun, Lena Goodman, Kathy Goldman, and Sherri Heidel. Each of you elevated the quality of her life to heavenly heights. She looked forward to her daily visits by her granddog Hershey GSD, the sweetest little shepherd in the world. Internment has taken place in Melbourne Florida next to her husband Sidney. Our thanks go to Bornemann Senior Communities and Hansen Funeral Services for their care and professionalism.
