Richard Englebert

Richard L. Englebert, 93, Green Bay passed away on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at Ledgeview Nursing Home. Richard was born on the family farm in Southern Door County to the late Frank and Victoria (Bero) Englebert on April 28th 1917. As a youth the family moved to De Pere where Richard continued on the family farm until WW II. Richard served proudly in the Pacific Theatre with the US Army Air Corps from 1942 through 1946 attaining the rank of sergeant. Upon his return home he married Florence Kuchenbecker and they had one son, Michael of Green Bay. Richard drove truck for many years for Green Bay – Chicago Lines up until his retirement in 1979 and was a proud member of Teamsters local 75 of Green Bay. Richard and Florence also opened their home in the 1950’s and 1960’s to several foster children and provided a loving home to youth in need. Florence preceded him in 1975. In 1977 he married Mildred (Miller) Bongel to share his retirement years with. They traveled extensively and spent many days and evenings playing cards with friends and family. Millie preceded him in 1992 Richard lived for the past 5 years at Ledgeview Nursing Center in DePere. Richard was preceded by his Parents, sister Beatrice (Harold) Terrien, brothers Clifford ( Lial) and Marvin (Jean). He was also preceded by his spouses Florence (Kuchenbecker) and Mildred (Bongel). Richard is survived by his brother Milton (Eunice, Dec.), Sisters Doris (Johnny) Hils, Marion (Vic) Kells and Lorraine (Frank, Dec.) Sargin, his son Michael (Beverly) and grandchildren Richard and Victoria. He is also survived by numerous Nieces and Nephews. Richard is also survived by his stepsons Darwin (Ann) Bongel and Delton (Kathy) Bongel, numerous step nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, (today) Feb. 23, 2011, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Peace United Methodist Church, 919 Schwartz Street. Funeral Service 3 p.m. at the church with Rev. Russ May officiating. The family wishes to thank Dr. Paul Pritchard for his gentle and compassionate care in Dad’s golden years as well as Unity Hospice for their care in the final days. Also a thanks to the Nurses and CNA’s and to Activities Director Doug who cared for Dad at Ledgeview Nursing Center.
