Paul Renard Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Paul Alex Renard, 59, Eden Prairie, MN, died on Friday, June 3, 2011 doing what he loved, sailing at his favorite place~ the cottage. Paul was born on January 17, 1952 in Green Bay, the son of the late John and Ann (Dorschel) Renard. He attended Abbot Pennings High School and was a graduate of Green Bay East High School with the class of 1970. Paul furthered his education at U.W. Stevens Point with a Bachelor of Science Degree and a double major in Wildlife Management and Biology. He worked briefly for The Wildlife Sanctuary in Green Bay before accepting a position with the D.N.R. in Minnesota. Paul enjoyed over 30 years with the D.N.R. until his retirement in July 2010. Paul was very artistic and was an accomplished painter in his own accord. He always found the time to read a book, listen to music, and enjoyed playing Scrabble. Paul found great pleasure in being outdoors, whether he was just enjoying nature, biking, sailing or just sitting around the bonfire at the cottage with his family. He had a unique sense of humor and was known for his practical jokes. Paul is survived by the love of his life, Wendy Campbell, Eden Prairie, MN; two sisters and brothers-in-law Diane “Di” and Rick Gorbette, Green Bay; Christine “Tina” Renard and her husband Dave Smith, Surfside Beach, SC; nieces and nephews, Julia (Steve) Engels and their children Edie and Oliver, Adam Bernander and his wife Abby Widmer, Sam Gorbette and his son Hudson, Cassie Gorbette, Eli Gorbette and his fiancee Neelie Jahnke, Wendy’s children, Paul’s “adopted family” Aaron (Deborah) Harmon and their children Becca and Mara, Grey (Lindsay) Campbell and their daughter Regan, Andrew Campbell and his friend Faith Egerdahl, Tim Campbell and his fiancee, Sara Mental. Paul used to boast, “I never had children, but I have grandchildren.” He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Del Renard. Gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2011 from 5:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. at Saint Matthew Catholic Church, 130 St. Matthew Street. Visitation will continue after 1:00 P.M. on Friday, June 10, 2011 at the church. Funeral Service 2:00 P.M. with Rev. James Vanden Hogen officiating. Burial at St. Francis Cemetery, Duvall. The family would like to offer a special thank-you to the U.S. Coast Guard, the D.N.R, the first responders and all those who lovingly gave their time to search for Paul.
