December 21, 1947 - February 19, 2021
Mary Ileen McKeough Mikolajczak. 1947-2021 Green Bay, WI. After battling the complications of dialysis and end-stage renal disease for two years Mary passed away unexpectedly the night of February 19, 2021, in the presence of her loving daughter, Juli Mikolajczak, caring sister, Lori McKeough and the other siblings and their families present virtually at St. Vincent Hospital. On December 21, 1947, Mary was born and became the first of six children of Thomas J. and Beatrice Goggins McKeough in Marshfield, WI. The young family moved to Westmont, IL where Mary attended Holy Trinity Catholic School. They then moved to Green Bay in 1966 where she walked a block to high school at St. Joseph Academy graduating in 1966. While living in Milwaukee, Mary met Ken and was married on July 3rd, 1971. They picked that day to so they would always have the day after their anniversary off. Ken unfortunately, died from cancer in 2008. In her forties Mary earned an accounting degree from Lakeland College. Mary liked to travel. She especially enjoyed her trip to Maui and traveling to volleyball tournaments with Juli when Juli coached volleyball. Mary also liked to read and do word games. Being part of the Green Bay McKeough clan meant going “up North” to the East Bass Lake cottage. She loved the quiet times sitting on the porch and the idea of not having to do too much else but enjoy the lake, the season, the cousins, aunts, uncles, and unofficial relatives and the “cottage family”. Mary was part of the third generation of McKeough’s to enjoy that spot on the lake. Juli continues as part of the fourth. Late in her life Mary surprised everyone by adopting her beloved shelter dog, Dixie. Dixie spent a lot of time in Mary’s lap as they kept each other company. She fought and endured each health complication over the last two years with courage and the good humor that the family is known for. The last bout became too much for her. Mary died at 8:23 p.m., minutes after receiving the Sacrament for the Sick, with the love, tears, and gentle touch of Juli and Lori on either side of the last breath from her body. Survived by: Juli Mikolajczak, Barbara McKeough, Mark (Kim Gianelo) McKeough, Beth (Lee) Garrow, Lorretta "Lori" J. McKeough, Clare (Scott Lundstrom), Ian McKeough Lundstrom and Aidan McKeough Lundstrom, Arlene Scholler, Linda (Kevin) McKinney, Mary Jo (Mike) Koslosky, Eugene (Wendy) Scholler. Many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. She cared very deeply for her “quasi kids and grandkids” and the “boys at ICU Medical”. We would like to thank Dr. Neu, Dr. Smith and the staff at Davita - Fox River facility, Dr. Rishi Subbarayan and Kristi for not giving up on my mom's dialysis access ports, and St. Vincent's 9th floor and ICU nursing staff and doctors. Gathering of family and friends will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 413 St. John Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. at the church with the Rev. Brian Belongia officiating. Entombment at Allouz Chapel Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. John's Homeless Shelter in Green Bay; or to a charity of your choice.
