James Brault

James J. Brault, 80, Green Bay passed away on Monday, January 31, 2011 at St. Vincent Hospital. James was born on July 25, 1930 in Two Rivers the son of the late Isadore and Isabel Brault. He graduated from St. Luke’s Grade School and attended one year at Washington High School, both in Two Rivers. In 1946 his family moved to Green Bay where James attended Central Catholic High School graduating with the class of 1948. He furthered his education at St. Norbert’s College for 2 years prior to enlisting in the U.S. Army in December of 1950. James took basic Infantry training and leadership school at Fort Riley, Kansas. He enrolled in Ft. Sill Oklahoma Officer Candidate Class #7 and was commissioned a 2nd Lt after graduation in July of 1951. James served in various capacities during the Korean war and was separated from active Duty in July of 1953. He joined the Army Reserve upon separation and served three additional active duty periods and also continued in the Reserve until 1976 and retired from the service in the Rank of Lt. Colonel after twenty three years of Active and Reserve Army Service. On October 4, 1952 he married the former Rita Claire Evearts at St. Matthew Catholic Church. James worked for Brault Construction for three years, Sommerville Associates for one year and as the General Manager for the local PPG Industries store. He them went to work for H.J. Martin and son and became the Glass and Metal Department Manager until his retirement in 1993. After retirement he and Rita moved to their summer home near Mountain, WI; and during the twelve years living there he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. They also spent three winters in Tuscon, AZ and twelve in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas and moved back to Green Bay in 2003. He was a friend of Bill W. James was active for several years in Veterans affairs and served in several elected offices in the Sullivan Wallen Post #11 of the American Legion. He was elected Post Commander and held that Office during the last State Convention of the American Legion held in Green Bay. James also held the post of Chef de Guerre of the 40 & 8 honor society of the American Legion. James is survived by his loving wife Rita, five children and their spouses Teri (Steve) Bubnik, Mike (Sue) Brault, Mark (Mary) Brault, Paul (Michelle) Brault, all of Green Bay and Sara (Tom) Simon, Luxemburg, WI; 10 grandchildren, Adam Brault. Matthew and Holly Brault, Jason, Kristen and Ryan Brault, Ashley, Katelyn and Hunter Brault and Kiah Simon, 5 great-grandchildren Brittany Konop, Kendra Brundidge, Claire Brault, Isabella Brault and Austin Rybarczyk, one brother Robert, Pensacola, Fl. He is further survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Leon. Gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, February 4, 2011 from 9:30 A.M. 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Allouez Chapel Mausoleum 2121 Riverside Drive. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Kenneth J. DeGroot O.Praem officiating. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum.
