Mr. Giles J. Tassoul

November 6, 1934 - November 1, 2015

Tassoul, Giles Joseph, 80, of Green Bay died peacefully on November 1, 2015. He was born on November 6, 1934 to Joseph and Mary Tassoul in Green Bay. After graduating from Central Catholic High School in 1952, he proudly attended St. Norbert College, graduating in 3½ years with a degree in business administration. He went on to attain his CPA certification. He married Barbara Binish on June 16, 1956. Giles’ career included an assistant business management position at the Wisconsin State Reformatory, a staff accountant position at Evans and Race Co., and then a partner at the accounting firm of Merriman and Tassoul. Throughout the years, Giles was a volunteer with the YMCA Swim Team, Northern Step Drill Team, the Seafarer’s Ministry, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Heritage Hill. He served as a treasurer of Green Bay Community Theater for 22 years, The Dance Company, Inc., St. John the Evangelist Homeless Shelter, and the Estate Planning Council of Northeastern Wisconsin. He was a trustee of St. John the Evangelist Parish, a member of the Downtown Lion’s Club and Sturgeon Bay Lion’s Club, and was appointed to the Green Bay Brown County Professional Football Stadium District Board (created to oversee the Lambeau Field renovations) from 2003-2010, serving as treasurer from 2008-2010. Giles was a dedicated father who always had a joke to share. He is survived by his children: Mark, Fort Mill, SC; Karen (David) Scudiero, North Liberty, IA; Diane Cook, Green Bay; and Joan (Paul) Hansen, Green Bay. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Philip and Michele Tassoul, Michael Scudiero, Naomi (Ryan) Parrott, Corina (Ivan) Arangure, Adam Cook, Ariel (Ryan) Kuhn, Kelly Cook (special friend Padi Kong), and RJ Cook; Dane and Jolee Hansen and 7 great-grandchildren: Dominik, Harper, Lincoln, Adrian, Adelyn, Cayden, and Trenton. Giles is further survived by sisters-in-law Marge Binish and Jeanne (David) Seitz, brothers-in-law Don Spletter, Jim Boehm, and Dick (Mary) Kendall. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, parents, brother-in-law Robert Binish, and sisters-in-law Carol Spletter and Grace Boehm. Gathering of family and friends will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. on Friday, November 6, 2015 at Old St. Joseph Church on the campus of St. Norbert College, 123 Grant Street, De Pere, WI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 P.M. with Rev. James P. Nielson O.Praem officiating. Entombment at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the St. John’s Homeless Shelter or the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Heartfelt thanks to Heartland Hospice, especially Patti, Abby, and Michael, and the staff of Allouez Sunrise Village with special thanks to Mary; we were blessed that our father had the presence of angels here on earth.
