Gene F. Beekman Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Gene F. Beekman, 66, Green Bay moved on to his next journey on Friday, November 27, 2009. Gene was born on May 11, 1943, the son of John and Eudora (Hazen) Beekman in Oconto where he was raised. He served his country in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater aboard the U.S.S Pickaway defending his country in Okinawa, Hong Kong, Subie Bay, Manila, Siam, and Japan. After his honorable discharge, Gene moved to Green Bay where he was hired at Nicolet Paper as a Chemical Mixer for over 20 years. Gene then secured a position with Moore Response Graphics, now The RR Donnelly Company until his retirement. He was a train enthusiast and loved collecting many fascinating pieces from Lionel Train. Gene also had a passion for model cars acquiring many greats from the Fleet Farm Classic Collection. He was very knowledgeable and greatly enjoyed watching the History Channel and even saw time to watch Grey’s Anatomy as well as Law and Order. Gene was a loving person who cared very deeply for his family and will always be lovingly remembered and sorrowfully missed. Gene is survived by his two daughters Dawn Ellis; Sue Cleereman, his son and daughter-in-law Jim and Melanie Beekman, all of Green Bay; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers and 2 sisters-in-law Gerard Beekman, Greg (Diane) Beekman, Jeff (Julie) Beekman, 1 sister Ann Beekman. He is further survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his Dad John, 1 sister Mary Trepanier, 1 sister-in-law Carol Beekman. He was further preceded by his beloved and best friends, his 2 cats Hopey and Tom; his dog Rocky. Gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at St. Agnes Catholic Church 1484 9th Street. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Burial at the Oconto Catholic Cemetery, Oconto. In lieu of flowers a Memorial Fund has been established in his name
