Mr. Gary B. Geurts

Gary B. Geurts, 80, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021 peacefully in his home. Gary was born on September 9, 1940 in Green Bay, the son of the late Alvin “Bud” and Sylvia (Vanden Langenberg) Geurts. Gary was a graduate of Green Bay Preble High School in 1958. On November 7, 1959 he married Margaret (Scheller) at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral. He was employed for over 26 years at Del Monte Foods where he had a very successful career until his retirement in 1990. Following his retirement, Gary and Margaret spent many wonderful years living in Townsend at their home on Surprise Lake. Gary enjoyed hosting family and sharing his love for the outdoors. Gary and Margaret’s love for Disney led them to spend the next 16 years residing in Spring Hill, Florida. They enjoyed many visits with family in Disney World, where they collected many souvenirs. Gary loved to share stories about his experiences with his family. We all aspire to be as proud of our lives as he was of his. Gary loved sports and supported the home team, but always remained a loyal Packer Fan. He cherished his family and never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. Gary was a faithful and devout Catholic and a prayerful man with a servant’s heart. He was a loving and proud husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many and will always be remembered and missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Gary is survived by his loving wife: Margaret, his children: John (Vicki) Geurts, Paula (Scott) Nachtwey, Kevin (Colleen) Geurts, Michelle (Drew) Zelle, Geri (Scott) Matzke, his grandchildren: Amy (Brett) Danelski, Dustin (Jayme) Nachtwey, Andraya Zelle, Alexandria (Connor) Montgomery, Corbin (Kelsey) Geurts, Zach (Skylar) Zelle, Desirae (Trey) Franks, Ashton Geurts, Jared Geurts, Tyler and Bella Matzke, his great-grandchildren: Stella, Charlotte, Nora, Lucy, Cooper, Clark, Carter and another on the way, his brother and sister-in-law: Jim (Sandy) Geurts, his sister-in-law: Nancy (Alton) Georgia, step-brother: Pat Gaughan, He is further survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He will also be missed by his furry companion Minnie who always put a smile on his face. He was preceded in death by his brother: Kenneth “Kenny” Geurts and his step-mother: Carol Geurts. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. (Noon) on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Avenue, Howard. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 P.M. with Rev. James Lucas officiating. The family would like to offer a very special and heartfelt thank you to the Doctors and nurses at Aurora BayCare Medical Center for all of the care and compassion. We also want to share a warm note of appreciation to the staff members of Emerald Bay for your loving kindness~ you will never be forgotten. “If Dad were here, he would want everyone to know how blessed and loved he was by his wife Margaret and thankful for the care she provided when he needed help in his last several years.”
