Mr. Clayton W. Burckle

July 14, 1927 - September 11, 2016

Clayton W. Burckle, Green Bay, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016. Clayton was born on July 14, 1927 in Green Bay, the son of the now late George and Hildegarde (Beth) Burckle. He was a graduate of Green Bay East High School with the class of 1945. Clayton served his country in the United States Army from 1945 until his honorable discharge in 1947. On August 13, 1949 he married the former Audrey St. Laurent at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Family was of the utmost importance to him and he cherished the many get togethers and was ever proud to be a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle who always made sure that his family was taken care of and protected. Two of his fondest memories were when he found out he was going to be a grandpa for the first time and holding his first great-grandson when the baby was only 15 hours old. Clayton enjoyed playing poker with his friends, talking sports with family and listening to the Indianapolis 500 on the radio. He was an avid reader his entire life and greatly enjoyed his trips to the casino. Clayton had a great sense of humor and always had a joke to share and loved meeting new people~ he had a very young heart. Clayton is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Audrey Burckle, his two children Mary Burckle, Manitowoc; Lee (Arlene) Burckle, Orange County, CA; 5 grandchildren Bart (Jen) Klutterman, Kim (Bruce) Klutterman-Booher, Chelsea Klutterman, Sarah Burckle, Andrew Burckle, 3 great-grandchildren Torin, Rebecca and Olive, a favorite niece Colleen McKee, 1 sister Rosemary Sarkis, 2 sisters-in-law Evelyn Burckle and Betty Van Alphen. He is further survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers Robert Burckle, Lloyd Burckle and 1 sister Beth Bluma. Gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Nativity of Our Lord Parish 2270 S. Oneida Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:00 P.M. with Rev. John Harper officiating. Burial at Allouez Catholic Cemetery. In memory of his 2 brothers Memorial Donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation (for Parkinson’s Research) Donation Processing Michael J. Fox Foundation P.O. Box 5014 Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014. (www.michaeljfox.org) The family would like to offer a warm note of appreciation to the staffs of Age Well for all of their care and compassion, Clayton greatly enjoyed living there and calling it “home”. “Don’t forget to call when you get home.”
