Ruth M. Debbout

Ruth Mary (Lawlor) Debbout March 10, 1925 - July 9th, 2024 Our beloved Ruth was received in God’s arms at the tender age of 99. Born on the family farm in Wilton Junction, Iowa, she was soon joined at the hip to three younger sisters- Joan, Jean, and Mary Ann. Ruth went to school in a one room schoolhouse, and had many responsibilities helping out at the farm. When she wasn’t milking cows or tending chickens, she and her sisters might be found swimming in the farm’s water tower or riding horses. She married Robert Debbout in 1947 and together in Green Bay they raised five sons- Mike, John, Jim, Tom, and Charlie. Having five young boys in the house (and their ever-growing collection of found animals) was a special challenge for Ruthie. Luckily, she was a special gal. Her boys grew up in both age and height, and Ruth was soon blessed with four daughters-in-law - Carol, Nita, Mary, and Christa. The female energy added to the family was very much appreciated. Ruth’s pride in family would continue to grow as over the years her family expanded to include twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She loved hearing about all the interesting lives and adventures of her family members- and there are a great many! Ruth was a very gifted artist and shared her talents with all she loved through gifts of her oil paintings. Many will be on display at her funeral service. She loved bright color- it was evident in her painting, her clothing, and could even be seen in the twinkle in her eye. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. She brought smiles to many of our faces. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Josephine and Leonard Lawlor, her husband: Robert Debbout, her sisters Jean Lessman, Joan Troman, Mary Ann Drexler, and sons Thomas and Charles Debbout. She is survived by her three sons Michael, John, and James Debbout, her four daughters-in-law, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Ruth will be greatly missed as she was loved by so many family and friends in her 99 years here on Earth. May her soul be at rest with those waiting for her in Heaven. Gathering of family and friends will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Tom Reynebeau officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Unity Hospice. Special thanks to Dr. Bozena Biernat, Lakeland Care, and Unity Hospice.
