Russell Weihbrecht

Russell Weihbrecht, 60 of Green Bay, a devoted husband, proud stepfather and a loving grandfather passed away peacefully on November 22nd 2014 after a heroic battle with pancreatic cancer. Russ was born June 2nd 1954 in Stevens Point to the late Ernest and Gladys Weihbrecht. Russ enlisted in the United States Navy in September of 1971and was discharged in May of 1973. On June 22nd 2007 he married Joanne DeBauche. Russ became a husband and a dad all in one day. He loved his step children like they were his own and they loved Russ like he was their dad and always told him that. He became a grandfather soon after which became his whole life. He loved his grandchildren with his whole heart and soul. Family was the most important thing to Russ. He enjoyed it the most when the whole family would get together to have cookouts. Russ was the master of the char coal grill. He loved taking long rides on the Harley. His favorite time to ride was when the leaves would turn colors. Russ is survived by his wife Joanne Weihbrecht, his stepchildren Nicole and Joshua Lardinois, his grandchildren Jackson Joshua, Rileigh Jo and Jayden Russell Jonathan, his loving mother Gladys, his brothers and sisters David Weihbrecht, Katherine (Paul) Burkard, Karen Weihbrecht, Wesley Weihbrecht, Ernest Weihbrecht III (Chip) and his 13 nieces and nephews. Russ was proceeded by his nephew Micheal Paul Burkard, his father Ernest Weihbrecht and two uncles Rudolph and Richard. In honor of Russ’s wishes there will be a private family gathering and service to remember his life. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Aurora visiting nurses association for their kind and loving care throughout the time they were with us. The family would also like to thank John Hansen of Hansen Family Funeral for all of his compassion and strength he gave us. The family also would like to send a very special thanks to Barbara and Bruce Dorner for being there every step of the way with their kind prayers and all the helpful things that they have done. We love you Russ all the way around the world and back again. Don’t grieve for me for now I’m free, I’m following the path God laid for me, I took His hand when I heard Him call, I turned my back, I left it all, I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work to play, Tasks left undone must stay that way, I found that peace at close of day, If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy, A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah yes these things I too will miss, But not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow, My life’s been full, I’ve savored much, Good friends, good times, A loved one’s touch, Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief, Lift up your hearts and share with me, God wanted me now, He set me free!
