Richard O. Hansen

Richard “Dick” O. Hansen, 85, De Pere passed away at his home on Wednesday, December 28, 2011. Richard was born on April 23, 1926 in Denmark the son of the now late Wilbert and Mary (Delwiche) Hansen. He was in the Boy Scouts of America where he obtained the rank of Star Scout. Dick attended Denmark High School until his Senior Year when his father died and the family moved to Green Bay where he graduated from East High School. He served his country during W.W. II in the United States Army in the European Campaign. Dick fought proudly in the Battle of the Bulge and throughout Central Europe where he earned 3 Bronze Stars. He was honorably discharged on April 21, 1946. Following his military discharge he attended and graduated with a Bachelors Degree from St. Norbert College. On July 23, 1955 he married the former Elaine Sinclair at St. Joseph Catholic Church and together they celebrated over 54 years together. Elaine preceded him in death on January 3, 2010. During his career Dick held many titles in various positions in Sales and Marketing Field. He was instrumental in the development of many major construction projects in the area. Dick was a member of the Sierra Club, the De Pere Men’s club and enjoyed listening to Wisconsin Public Radio. He also enjoyed going “up-north”, skiing, fishing, hunting, traveling and his greatest passion was sailing. Dick loved spending time with his family and many friends. Dick is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law Cherie Gerstner, Mary and Scott Sprangers, one son and daughter-in-law Steve and Sue Hansen, 5 grandchildren, Jessica, Ashley (fiancé Mike), Tiffany, Ben and Kimberly, 1 great-granddaughter Jordyn., by two sisters and one brother-in-law Alice Kalinosky, Jeanie (Don) Radke, a sister-in-law Pat Hansen. Further survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers Bill, Donne, 1 brother-in-law Bob Kalinosky other family and friends. Gathering of family and friends will be held from 3:00 P.M.to 5:00 P.M. on Monday, January 2, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 1307 Lourdes Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial 5:00 P.M. at the church with Rev. Tim Shillcox O.Praem officiating. A special note of appreciation to the many close family and friends
