Paul Kapla

Paul M. Kapla, 71, Green Bay died unexpectedly On Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Ashwaubenon Bowling Lanes doing what he loved best. Paul was born on October 5, 1939 in Pound, Wisc, the son of the late Theodore and Agnes (Wolf) Kapla. He served his country in the United States Army Reserve. Paul was employed at Fort Howard Paper Mill for over 35 years in several departments including rewind and the paper cutting machine until his retirement in 1999. On June 27, 1964 he married the former Mary Daleiden at Annunciation Catholic Church. Paul’s greatest passion and joy in life was bowling as he had a genuine love of the game and his biggest accomplishment was his 300 game! Outside of bowling, he found the time to create and maintain a picturesque backyard that was enjoyed by wildlife especially the squirrels and birds of which he made sure that they were well fed. Paul was an avid Packer fan and found watching the game from his home much more enjoyable. Along with his son Paul, he was a Ford Man and frequently donned hats and jackets to show his allegiance to what he thought were the best cars and trucks on the road. Paul and Mary loved to go for car rides and it never ceased to amaze them of all the goings on in the city of Green Bay and they enjoyed venturing across the state on “mini vacations”. Paul’s single and greatest joy in life was his family- he always made sure that before his head rested on his pillow at night his family especially his loving wife was taken care of. Paul is survived by his wife Mary, one son and daughter-in-law Paul and Dawn Kapla, two brothers and two sisters-in-law Francis (Carol) Murphy, Jim Murphy, Carol Murphy, three sisters and two bothers-in-law Marilyn (Rodney) Chell, Ursulla Kuschel, Cathy (George) Porter, a step brother-in-law Darold Guay, one sister-in-law and brother-in-law Barb (Paul) Trimberger, a step-sister-in-law Eloise Dobratz, He was preceded in death by an infant brother, a brother Dave Murphy, two brothers-in-law Jerry Kuschel, Virgil Dobratz, one step-sister-in-law Beverly Guay. Gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. (Noon) in the Chapel at the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum 2121 Riverside Drive. Funeral Service 12:00 P.M. (Noon) in the chapel with Rev. Dane Radecki O.Praem officiating. Entombment in the Mausoleum. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Enchanted Florist and Hansen Funeral for their kindness and personal one on one attention given. They would also like to offer a special thank you to the first responders in the bowling alley for all of the quick thinking and attention in trying to save Paul. Also, a warm note of appreciation to the E.R. staff of Bellin Memorial Hospital for their comfort and concern shown to Paul’s family.
