Matt Ver Haagh

Matthew “Matt” “Slim” J. Ver Haagh, 39, Allouez, passed away unexpectedly on, Sunday, July 21, 2019. Matt was born on October 30, 1979, in Green Bay, the son of Joseph J. and Gail (Leiterman) Ver Haagh. He was a graduate of East De Pere High School with the class of 1998 and completed the DOC Correctional Officer Program in Oshkosh. Slim started his career at Taycheedah Correctional Institution working there for over 3 years before transferring up to the Green Bay Correctional Institute where he has been employed for over a decade. On March 12, 2010, he married the former Holly Lange. Matt was an avid outdoorsman and greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing or just being outside. He was very talented in the kitchen and was an excellent cook. His biggest passion however was gaming and was very skilled at computers. Matt’s greatest joy in life was his love of family and the importance of moments spent making memories. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, papa, uncle, cousin and a friend to so many and will be lovingly remembered and sorrowfully missed. Matt loved his dogs! Matt is survived by his wife Holly, two children Destiny and Brittany, 1 granddaughter Sofia, his Dad and Mom Joe and Gail Ver Haagh, 1 sister and brother-in-law Jodi (David) Watters and their children Nathan and Sam, 1 brother and sister-in-law Andrew (Rachael) Ver Haagh and their children Carsten and Drew; his paternal grandmother Lucille Ver Haagh, 1 sister-in-law Joy (Mark) Micolichek, 1 brother-in-law Jeff (Mari) Lange. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, many cousins other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Orval and Dorothy Leiterman, his paternal grandfather Joseph H. Ver Haagh, 1 cousin Ashley. Gathering of family and friends will be held from 12:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Monday, July 29, 2019 at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive , Allouez. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 4:00 P.M. with Rev. Tom Reynebeau offictaing. Entombment at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy a Memorial Fund is being established in his name.
