Mary Lou Coleman

Mary Lou Coleman, 76, Green Bay, has returned home to the Lord and is now at rest after courageously battling newly diagnosed health issues. Mary Lou was born on July 3, 1948, in Green Bay, the daughter of the now late James and Edith (Rueckl) Refsguard. Mary Lou graduated from Green Bay West High School with the class of 1966. On July 28, 1972, she married Scott Coleman at Annunciation Catholic Church, and the couple enjoyed over 52 beautiful years together. Mary Lou’s love for children led her to become the School Secretary at Annunciation Catholic Grade School before another passion of hers brought her to advocate for veterans. Mary Lou was a Veterans Death Benefits Specialist for the Brown County Veterans Administration until her retirement in 2013. During her long career she made many friends and always went above and beyond for those who served. She continued to serve others while in retirement through a variety of volunteer opportunities. Mary Lou loved watching and feeding animals of all kinds. Many were given names and would visit the yard daily to enjoy special snacks she and Scott provided. Mary Lou was creative and artistic, coming up with crafts and games to bring the family together. She was never without her camera, capturing every joyful moment, and then creating beautiful keepsakes and gifts with the photos. Mary Lou enjoyed traveling, visiting locations like Maui, St. John’s, Disney World, Cancun, and a bucket-list trip to England. She was most fond of trips that brough her close to her family and grandkids and particularly loved going up north to the lake to swim, relax, and make memories. Mary Lou was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend to many and will always be lovingly remembered and sorrowfully missed. Mary Lou is survived by her loving husband: Scott, 2 daughters and sons-in-law: Robyn (Kris) Wright, Carrie (Bill) Babiash, one son and daughter-in-law: Ryan (Jenna) Coleman, 8 grandchildren: Beau, Brock, Will, James, Noah, Audrey, Evan and Grant, 1 sister: Teri Patz, 3 brothers and 2 sisters-in-law: Jim Refsguard, Eric (Theresa) Refsguard and Joe (Robyn) Refsguard. She is further survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by twin infant daughters: Renee and Tina. Gathering of family and friends will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on November 19, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 P.M. with Rev. Jim Lucas officiating. The family would like to offer a warm note of appreciation to the 6th Floor ICU / CCU Nurses at St. Vincent Hospital for their loving care and compassion. A special thank you to Neurosurgeon Dr. Alison Meyer, Surgical Oncologist Dr. Ugwuji Maduekwe (Froedtert Hospital) and the cancer care teams at Froedtert and St. Vincent’s for never giving up - your devotion will never be forgotten.
