Marvin Thiry, Sr.

Marvin J. Thiry, Sr., 79, Green Bay passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Aurora BayCare Medical Center after a short illness. Marv Sr. was born on March 17, 1933 in the town of Lincoln to the now late Ernst L and Lena (LaCrosse) Thiry. He was a graduate of Casco High School and after growing up in Lincoln, he spent over 50 years in Green Bay. Marv Sr. served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War until his honorable discharge. He married the former Beatrice Kurowski in Green Bay and they were happily married for over 50 years. Marv Sr. was employed at Kemps Dairy as a warehouse worker and truck driver for over 30 years. He retired from there only to accept a position as a truck driver at J&W Enterprise for several years, working with his son Marv Jr. before calling it quits. Retirement however, was not in his vocabulary so Marv Sr. then worked with and for his son at Marv’s Hometown Auto, coming in 7 days a week to ensure that people’s cars were back on the road. Even though Marv worked hard at providing for his family, he worked even harder to be a family man and was able to balance his love of work and his love for his family. Marv Sr. was a true gentleman, a devoted husband, father and grandfather and never rested his head until his family was taken care of. He cherished his family and the moments spent with them as this was the true love of his life especially Marcellus and Mattaeo with whom he had a special caring bond with. He will always be lovingly remembered and sorrowfully missed. Marv Sr. never said no to anyone and was always there~ no matter what! Marv Sr. is survived by his loving wife, Bea, his children Adrian Thiry, Marv Jr. and Laura Thiry, Rick and Verna Kurowski, 3 grandchildren Marcellus, Matteo, Jamie Kurowski; 5 sisters and 1 brother-in-law Mary Boucher, Carol Gilson, Bev Hillsberg, Barbara Metoxen, Rose (Jeff) Routhieaux, 2 brothers and 2 sisters-in-law Mel and Jackie Thiry, Jerry and Sharon Thiry. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Mary, 2 sisters and 6 brothers-in-law Lorraine (Edsel) Nellis, Ernestine (Joe) Delebreau, Bernie Boucher, Leland Gilson, Duane Hillsberg, Donald Metoxen, 1 brother and sister-in-law Vernon and Armella Thiry. In honor and request of Marv Sr.’s wishes a Gathering and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The family would like to offer a special thank-you to Dr. John Gray for all of his compassion and support through the years. Also, a heart-felt note of appreciation to Deacon Paul Umentum who has been a family friend and their attorney for several years.
