Lois June (Calewarts) Johnston June 5,1930 – May 25,2025 Our Angel on earth, Lois Johnston, passed away peacefully at home May 25, 2025 to become a real angel in heaven. She was 94 years young and she left us with grace and an everlasting love that we will all carry with us in our hearts forever. She was born June 5, 1930 at home in De Pere, Wisconsin, to parents Hattie and Roland Calewarts. She was the oldest of 3 children. The family moved to Howard in 1941 where she grew up until she graduated from West Green Bay High School in 1948. After graduation she was employed by Stowe Motor Company until 1954 when she took time off to raise her 3 children. Later, employers include the Community Bank of West De Pere, Equifax, and Schneider National before retiring in 1997. All of these jobs required excellent customer service skills. She loved talking with people and making them feel important and cared for. It was one of her greatest gifts. She met her husband, William Johnston, from Kansas, at Stowe Motor company in 1950. They fell in love during a snow ball fight after the company Christmas party, they dated for 3 years and married May 2, 1953. They celebrated 67 years together. They raised 3 children in De Pere, Wisconsin. Not only was she a beloved and devoted mother but became a cherished grandmother and great grandmother. They were all the loves of her life, and she was ours. We often remarked that she lived her life by the RULE OF THE 4 F’s: • FAMILY – she spent every moment she could loving and enjoying time with her family. They were her pride and joy. We were the center of her universe, and we were all blessed to have her in our lives. • FRIENDS – She cherished her friends and times laughing and revisiting fond memories. • FISHING – Her “happy” place was the cottage on Pelican Lake that she, Bill, and her father built from 1974 – 1977. She loved birds and all of nature. Her happiest times were being out in the boat fishing with loved ones all day. • FOOTBALL – She and Bill were Green Bay Packers fans since 1947 and season ticket holders. She enjoyed every game, the tailgating and all the friends she enjoyed during the season. She attended her last Packer game in October 2021 at the age of 91. She lived life to the fullest and celebrated every day with loved ones. She is survived by her 3 children, Howard Johnston of Green Bay, Kathleen (Johnston) and Tim Signorelli of Minneapolis, and Patrick and Sara Johnston of De Pere. She has 7 cherished grandchildren, Eric (Anna) Johnston, Emily (Kevin) Yaklin, Kristen (Nick) Wells, Luca (Lisa) Signorelli, Gabrielle Signorelli, Denise (Colin) Benn, and Adam Signorelli. And her beautiful 10 great grandchildren, Vincent, Walter, Stanley, Mallory, William, Sofia, Adriana, Grace, Micah and Levi. She is preceded in death by her husband William Johnston, her parents Hattie and Roland Calewarts, her brothers Wayne (Nora) Calewarts, Leon (Gladys) Calewarts and 6 brothers in law and 2 sisters in law through her marriage to William. A Celebration of Life will be held at The Shrine of the Good Shepard at Nicollet Memorial Gardens on Saturday June 7th starting at 9:00 am with a service at 11:00 and luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, please direct any donations to the family to be distributed to her favorite charities.
