Erna E. Vandenhouten

Erna E. Vandenhouten, 99, and 344 days, Green Bay passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Caretta Assisted Senior Living surrounded by her family. Erna was born on July 1, 1926 in Rosiere the daughter of the now late August and Ida (Depas) Vandermause. She was a graduate of Green Bay East High School and went on to attend Business College. On May 4, 1948 she married Wallace “Wally” Vandenhouten in Rosiere, and the couple enjoyed over 76 years together. Wally preceded her in death on September 23, 2024. They started farming in Casco. Erna was very talented with her crafting skills and loved making gifts for her family and friends~she was always looking for the next project. She loved sewing and made many of her clothes along with the children’s. Erna was never one to stay still and outside of her busy life farming she had numerous other jobs throughout the years. She loved puzzles and spent many hours at her custom made puzzle table. Erna is survived by her children: Penny (Mike) Paque, Barb Gersek, Gene Vandenhouten, Deb (Don) Delcore, Dave (Judy) Vandenhouten, Kevin (Chris) Vandenhouten, 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, 1 brother-in-law and 3 sisters-in-law: Glory Wautlet, Julie Loritz, Gary (Lori) Vandenhouten. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by: her son-in-law: Edmund “Ed” Gersek, a grandson: Nicholas Arendt, her father and mother: August and Ida Vandermause, 3 brothers and 3 sisters-in-law: Orville (Flo) Vandermause, Ervin (Shirley) Vandermause, Richard (Gloria) Vandermause, 3 sisters and 2 brothers-in-law: Ethel (Norman) Wautier, Joan (Francis) Sacotte, Pearl (Melvin) DeJardin, her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Kilton (Monica) Vandenhouten and Robert Loritz. Gathering of family and friends will be held from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 3425 Willow Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Bill Hoffman officiating. Entombment at Shrine of the Good Shepherd Chapel Mausoleum on Monday, June 22, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy a memorial fund has been established in her name. The family would like to offer a warm note of appreciation to the staffs of Caretta Senior Living and Moments Hospice for all of their wonderful care and compassion shown to Erna.
