Mrs. Dolores L. Piechura

Mon., August 1, 2016, age 97 years. Loving mother of Mary (Robert) Marion of Fairfax, VA, Kathy (Joe Pashman) Halverson of Green Bay, WI, Judie McCoy of Brookfield, WI, Chris (Bob) Jackson of Star Lake, WI. Proud grandmother of Ken (Karen) Marion, Peter (Kelly) Halverson, Leslie (Cory) Vogel, Lynn (John) Wagner, Kristie (Bob) Schieble, Keith (Jill) McCoy, Steve (Jenny) Jackson and Laura (Chris) Cheney and many great-grandchildren. She was also the aunt of Bill (Grace) Leiden. Preceded in death by beloved husband, Walter Piechura, parents, Andrew and Agnes Leiden, son, John Piechura, son-in-laws, Dale Halverson, and Gary McCoy, and other relatives and friends. Gathering of family and friends will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Resurrection Catholic Church 333 Hilltop Drive. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating. Burial at Star Lake Cemetery, Star Lake, WI on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Paul’s Pantry, 1520 Leo Frigo Dr, Green Bay, WI 54302 (feeding the poor of Green Bay), or the charity of your choice. The family of Dolores wishes to express their gratitude to Santa Maria Nursing Home for their dedicated care and compassion given to Dolores the last 6 years. Dolores was the devoted daughter of Andrew and Agnes (Kreilcamp) Leiden. After graduation from St. Leo’s in Milwaukee, she went to Washington High School and graduated in 1937. While working at the Electric Company, she met the man of her dreams, and they married on May 7, 1941 and married for 55 years. Wally and Dolores were quite a team raising five children and moving the family grocery business to Elm Grove, WI and together opened Wally’s Fine Foods that later became Food Fair. Wally was the industrious business owner and Dolores the diligent bookkeeper. Their employees became an extended family and life-long friends. Family time was spent in Northern WI cabins and eventually their cottage on Lake Laura in Star Lake, WI where they extended their welcome to family and friends. This was their happy place! Their grandchildren were the highlight of her life. Dolores was quite the cook and entertainer. She often fed a crowd at a moment’s notice and could feed 15 people on one pound of ground beef! Dolores always found one special person to help. Dolores’ mentoring to others continued throughout her life. She willingly gave sound advice even when it was not wanted, but needed. Mom’s love for Wally, her “Dearest One” was unwavering and an inspiration to her children. With great deal of love and respect, we praise our mom for having raised us to know that we were no better or no worse than anyone else. She taught us principles of a strong work ethic, striving to use our God-given talents, and always looking toward the future. “Well Done My Good and Faithful Servant. Now Come and See What I have Prepared For You.” Matthew 25:21
