Mr. David "Dave" V. Popour

Dave Popour passed away August 17, 2023 after a brief and hard fought battle with cancer. Dave was born February 3, 1952 to Vern “Bun” and the late Phyllis Popour in Manistique, MI. He graduated from Manistique High School in 1970. He moved to Big Rapids, MI to attend Ferris State College. There he met the love of his life, Connie. After graduating with a B.S. in Business, he and Connie were married in 1975. Dave and Connie moved to Green Bay in 1974, where he began his career in restaurants. He was hired at Country Kitchen as an assistant manager in 1975. He and his wife managed the restaurant until they became owners in 2006. Retirement did not stop him from cooking. He found joy preparing meals for his family and working on the Caribbean Cruiser food truck. Dave worked hard throughout his life, and in his freetime could be found outside gardening with a beer in his hand. He and Connie spent most of their time together browsing clearance racks, treasure hunting in second hand shops, and losing each other in stores. Dave is survived by his wife Connie; his three daughters Jolene (Casey) Ault, Brandi (Justin) Andrews, and Misti Popour; his grandchildren who were the twinkles in his eye Brooklyn (Luke Anderson), Wilson, Isabella, Malcolm, and Elianna; his father Vern “Bun” Popour and brother Terry (Bonnie) Popour, sisters-in law Arlene (Rich) Johnson, Kathy Letts, and Cindie Laubach; nephew Tim (Melissa) Popour, niece Gina (Justin) Debelak and many special friends including Julie DeMuth and Mike Wundrow. The family would like to extend a huge thank you to the caregivers at Prevea, Green Bay Oncology, and especially those on the 4th and 9th floors at St. Vincent Hospital. The care and warm blankets that were provided proved that love and kindness are in the world. Thank you for laughing at his jokes, especially our favorite one when asked, “Dave do you have any pain?” and he would smile and point at Connie. Dave will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, sarcasm, and will be missed by many. He will always be known as “the best boss ever.” In honor of the brightness that Dave brought into the world, the family requests that guests attending his memorial please wear vibrant colors. Dave, I will love you until “the 10th of never.” ~Connie Gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Anduzzi’s Sports Club 900 Kepler Drive. There will be a sharing of stories and memories at 6:00 P.M.
