Arletta Leanna

Arletta M. Leanna, 89, Green Bay, died peacefully Oct 14, 2010, surrounded by her family at Judy and Bruce’s home, where she enjoyed the last six months of her life. Arletta was born Sept. 22, 1921 in Green Bay, the twin daughter of the late Victor and Mary Macco. She married the late Edward Leanna on Sept. 28, 1940. Together, they had six children and enjoyed 60 years of marriage prior to Ed’s death in 2000. Her first love in life was her family and spent the majority of her life as a caring homemaker. She enjoyed many hobbies, including bowling, sewing, dancing, cards, the Packers and Brewers (an avid fan whether they won or lost). She was a founding member of her “Club”, which met for over 60 years. She was a wonderful Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma, and recently achieved the status of Great-Great Grandma. Arletta was true to her faith, family and friends. The legacy she left to her loved ones was her strong Catholic faith and commitment to family. She is survived by her five children and their families, Judy & Bruce Roehl, (Debbie/Mike Ohlson, Scott/Tammy Roehl & Todd Roehl) Mary Jo & Dean O’Connell (Jon/Jeanette Mainville, Ryan/Angela Mainville) Mike & Guifen, (Tricia/Ron Collins, Lisa & Erin) Paula & Jeff Schmechel, (Carrie/Andrew Gerend, Eric/Meredith & Bryan/Amber) and Jim & Sherry Leanna, (Erica and Nicholas), 14 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She is further survived by one sister, Donna (Lyle) LaPlante, two brothers, Arnold and Harry Macco, brothers-in-law Gordy Kropp, Alfred (Darlene) Leanna, and many generations of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son, Joseph, and two sisters, Evelyn Kropp & Geraldine (Cliff) Van Lanen, additional family members Delores Macco, Kate Macco, Curtis (Bernice) Leanna and Susan Kropp. Gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday October 18, 2010 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Nativity of Our Lord Parish, 2270 Oneida Street. Mass of Christian Burial 12:00 PM at the church with Rev. John Becker officiating. Entombment at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. The family would like to extend a warm thank you to the staff of Ministry Hospice of Rhinelander WI for their loving care and compassion. Jim, Paula and Mary Jo would like to say thank you to Judy and Bruce for the joy you brought to our mother’s life over the past six months. Thank you as well to Mike and Guifen for their many, many years of loving care. Your caring friendship and laughter helped Mom live every day to the fullest, you were truly a blessing in her life.
