Ann Dorothy Wetli

Ann D. Wetli, 89, a longtime resident of Allouez passed away after a brief illness at her home surrounded by her family, on August 19, 2011. Ann was born on August 27, 1921 in Big Stone City, SD. She was the daughter of the now late Adrian and Petronella (Peters) Klysen. In 1940 she moved with her mom, dad and siblings to escape the “Dust Bowl” and depression hoping for a better opportunity in the Green Bay area. On January 8, 1949 she married Jerome ‘Toby” C. Wetli at Annunciation Catholic Church and the couple enjoyed over 21 years together. Toby preceded her in death on May 16, 1970 and Ann forged ahead raising and providing for her eight children. She worked for many years at the former H.C. Pranges until her retirement. Ann loved to spend time “up north” at her cottage in Lakewood, with all her family, creating lasting memories. She was compassionate by nature and always put the needs of others first, giving freely of her time. Ann had a green thumb and shared the fruits of her labor from the apple orchard and garden with her family, neighbors and friends. Her home and yard always looked impeccable. She took great pride and joy in the numerous family gatherings at her home, especially during the holiday’s where everyone was always welcome. Ann is survived by her children Jim Wetli, Dan and LeeAnn Wetli, Richard Wetli, Robert and Vicki Wetli, Mary Sickel, Cheryl and Dennis McGregor, Pat and Dave Smits, John and Linda Wetli, 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, one brother and 3 sisters-in-law Hank (Shirley) Klysen, Veronica Klysen, Dorothy Klysen one sister Angie Piontek. She is further survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one son-in-law Daniel Sickel, 2 brothers John Klysen, Ted Klysen, 1 sister and 2 brothers-in-law Jane and Ralph Donarski, Cyril Piontek. Gathering of family and friends will be held from 8:30 A.M. to10:30 A.M. on Monday, August 22, 2011 at St. Matthew Catholic Church 130 St. Matthew Street. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 A.M. at the church with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating and Rev. Philip Dinh-Van-Thiep con-celebrating. In lieu of flowers a Memorial Fund has been established. Burial at Allouez Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to offer a warm note of appreciation to the staff of Heartland Hospice especially Krista, Tina and Barb for all of the care shown to Ann and their support to her family. In addition to the special assistance provided by Katie Saffron. Also, a special thank-you to her faith filled community at St. Matthew’s Parish especially Rev. Philip Dinh-Van-Thiep, Ann Froelich and Bishop Robert Morneau for all of the prayers and concern.
